Produce UK goes back to the Cote d’Azur for MIPIM 2018

Produce UK returned to Cannes for MIPIM 2018, the event which brings together investors, International Property Advisors, architects, urban planners, local and regional authorities and developers to network, share knowledge and discuss the future of our cities.

Compared to last year I am pleased to say there was a significant increase in realisation of the value of placemaking. Investment in not only buildings but the spaces between them and more importantly the humans that occupy them, the communities, talent, education, health, creativity and social care was identified to be just as important as the buildings that they inhabit and this is now being recognised in financial terms as well.

It was exciting for us to witness this knowledge and insight around experiential placemaking spreading through the industry, however like any new systems or shifting attitudes it takes time to create lasting change.

We met with clients and associates old and new with inspiring discussions on the venue of immersive experiences, global shifts in investment, architectural design and cultural awareness and the effect of Brexit and political climates across the world.

As MIPIM is a global event it brings together a great wealth of nationalities and cultures – sharing is where we can learn and grow, with 75% of the world’s wealth wrapped up in real estate, investing in the public realm and green space is crucial. We look forward to returning next year to a yet more open minded, inclusive and diverse MIPIM.

One of the impressive speakers that we saw at the event was Amanda Clack, Executive Director of CBRE (UK) – see below to watch her talk about the importance of placemaking in the future city:
